The Digital Story Viewing & Prize Distribution Ceremony of Subh-E-Nau Project

The digital story viewing and prize distribution ceremony for Subh-e-Nau was held on Thursday, the 28th of April 2011 to appreciate the hard work of the workshop participant and view the digital stories.

The ceremony was held at APWA Punjab, Provincial Headquarters, Lahore and the event was attended by representatives of local NGOs, private sector, universities, etc.

During the ceremony, Ms. Ruhi Syed, Chairperson APWA highlighted the history and achievements of APWA, Punjab.

Dr. Sarmad Hussain, Head CLE elaborated the importance of ICTs in Social Development. Ms. Gazala Khan, APWA’s Executive Committee Member, who played a pivotal role in bringing women survivors of violence to participate in workshop explained violence and its type in Pakistan. Mr. Shahzad Ahmed representative of Bytes for All discussed objectives of his organization to use technology for women empowerment. Later on, Ms. Jehan Ara, President, Pasha also shared her feelings about the outcome of the workshop. She highlighted the efforts of different women who were doing work at their homes and living a happy life. She congratulated to the participants for their successful participation in workshop. Zafar Iqbal, member jury panel announced best story award. On the behalf of judges, he expressed thanks to organizing team for their involvement in project. At the end, chief guest, Ms. Anusha Rehman Khan, Member National Assembly appreciated the efforts of participants to learn the technological tools and to raise voice against violence against women. She also admired the organizing team of APWA and CLE for training the women on modern technology. She requested organizing team to make more projects for the empowerment of women in Pakistan and announced 2.5 million rupees donation for APWA Punjab to construct a school for needy in Rahim Yar Khan. 

The cash prizes were given to the workshop participants after the end of ceremony, in the APWA office. A total of Rs. 12,500 was given out in cash prizes to the first, second and third, best story developed during the workshop. In addition, certificates of participation were given to every participant of the workshop.
